1998 Subaru Legacy

For 1998, Subaru unveiled its entire Legacy models with only one drive system,
the all-wheel drive. Legacy sedan has been a large contributor to Subaru's recent
success because of its rally racing-derived all-wheel drive system and horizontally
opposed "boxer" motors. A 2.2-liter engine that generates 137 horsepower powered
the '98 Legacy L model while 2.5 GT editions have 2.5L engine that cranks out
165 horsepower.

The L and 2.5 GT models are available with standard 5-speed manual overdrive.
Legacy's 2.5 GT LIMITED editions come with 4-speed automatic overdrive. The 1998
Subaru Legacy has standard air conditioning, power windows, power door locks,
and cassette player. Standard safety features include driver-passenger airbags
and ABS brakes. Another touch on 2.5 GT models is the standard oonroof. Legacy
L models have mpg rating of 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg in the highway while
2.5 GT versions receive 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg in the highway.
